Gastroscopy is a medical procedure where an endoscope, a flexible tube, is passed through the mouth and esophagus into the stomach. Aim of the procedure is to examine the mucosa of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum. During the examination, tissue samples (biopsies) can be taken and different therapeutic procedures can be performed.
Gastroscopy is usually necessary to investigate problems such as abdominal pain. The examination is informative, but can be unpleasant and poorly tolerated when done while awake.
Amsel Clinic offers the opportunity to undergo gastroscopy under general anesthesia at a time convenient for you, painlessly and without worries.
Patients can go home 30 to 60 minutes after the procedure. Driving is not allowed until the next morning.
