Appendix is an organ about the length of a little finger and the thickness of a pencil. It is believed to play a role in the functioning of the intestinal immune system. However, appendectomy has not been shown to have any negative health effects.  <\/p>\n<p>Acute appendicitis (i.e. acute inflammation of the appendix) occurs when the lumen of the appendix is blocked. This is usually diagnosed in the emergency ward and the appendix is then removed during emergency surgery.  <\/p>\n<p>In the last 15 years, non-surgical treatment of appendicitis with antibiotics has been increasingly adopted and considered to be equivalent to surgical treatment in selected patients. At the same time, based on studies, the risk of recurrence of inflammation is 18% within one year and up to 40% within five years. For this reason, elective appendectomy may be necessary after nonsurgical treatment of acute appendicitis.  <\/p>\n<p>Amsel&#8217;s experienced surgeons remove the appendix laparoscopically through three small incisions, ensuring a quick recovery and minimal scars. eliminates the risk of recurrent appendicitis. Appendicitis can recur in almost half of the patients treated with antibiotics.
